More than just design

MINIMALISM

Less visual style and more principle.

Living as a minimalist requires one to strive to only use things that serve a purpose. It is all about living a simple life and having only what you need to go about in your daily life. In design, minimalism is characterized by extreme spareness and simplicity. Designing with a minimalistic mindset requires a designer to only use those principles that communicate sophistication in simplicity.   Tips for Creating a Minimalistic Design.
  1. Keep It Simple The key to a minimalist graphic design is simplicity.
  2. Be selective with Typography A minimal style needs to feature clean and readable typography to be most effective.
  3. Streamline the Color Palette The color palette should be as simple as the typography palette.
  4. Have consistency in your design Create a consistent user experience that is not complicated.
  5. Be bold with white space You should not have any mushed or crowded elements. This enables the concept to be clearly discernible.
  6. Create Balance and Harmony Establish counter balance which is important to keep your design from feeling lopsided or overwhelming.
  7. Make everything intentional Everything must serve a purpose. Place, design, and create interaction with intent.
